Legend
It was said that the Sapphire Gem had never been found – only uncovered, as though it had been waiting for someone ready to see it. Talgat Alim seldom wore it, for she knew that not everyone could bear its coldness.
One spring, three brothers came to her. Each told a different version of the same quarrel. Every word they spoke was full of reason, and yet the more they said, the further the truth drifted away. Talgat heard them out in silence. Then she set the Sapphire Gem on a stone between them.
“Do not speak. Look.”
In the stone each of them saw something different: his own anger, his fear of losing face, his weariness of the fight. The sapphire did not show what had happened – it laid bare where the words had come from. When the silence settled, one of the brothers looked away.
“It wasn’t he who wounded me,” he whispered. “It was I who would not see.”
Talgat put the gem away.
“A sapphire gives no answers,” she said. “It sets the questions in order. And when the questions are clear, the truth has no need to shout.”
Ever since, Talgat Alim has brought out the Sapphire Gem only when the clamour of thoughts grows louder than the heart, and people forget that clarity is born of stillness.
