It was said that Talgat Alim had no need for questions, for before a person spoke them, she already knew the weight they carried. Yet even she understood that truth does not always wish to step into the light – sometimes it hides so deeply within a person that they themselves cease to recognize it.

One cold night, when the steppe was as silent as sealed lips, a merchant came to her fire. His pouches were full, and yet he trembled as if he had brought emptiness with him. He asked for a sign: whether to go on or turn back, whether to trust people or close his heart forever. His words were filled with reason, but lacked truth. Talgat did not answer. She removed a small talisman from her neck – the All-Seeing Eye – and held it above the flame, allowing the warmth to awaken its glow. The owl on her shoulder stirred its wing, as if confirming the verdict of silence.

“Look,” she said simply.

The merchant leaned forward and saw in the Eye neither the future, nor visions of wealth, nor the faces of enemies. He saw his own heart: clenched, cautious, ready to flee from closeness. In that moment he understood that his questions were never about the road – they were about fear of what might happen if he stopped controlling everything. He tried to turn away, but the talisman would not allow escape. It did not wound – it only revealed, until there was nowhere left to hide. At last, Talgat lowered the Eye back into her palm and spoke softly:

“It is not the world that is uncertain. It is you who fears seeing how much truth lives within you.”

At dawn the merchant departed without grand declarations. Yet his step was lighter, as if he had finally set down his excuses. And the All-Seeing Eye remained with Talgat Alim – a reminder that the most difficult vision is not of distant signs, but of what has long been looking at us from within.
